Babar (born 14 February 1483) (reigned 1526 - 1530), a Central Asian ruler who was descended from the Turco-Mongol conqueror Timur (Founder- Timurid Empire) on his father's side, and fron Genghis Khan on his mother's side. Babar came to india to satisfy his ambitions.He established himself in Kabul and the pushed southward into India from Afghanistan through the Khyber Pass.Babar's ancester Timur had invaded India in 1398 A.D. He captured the Prince of Panjab. The Punjab and its surrounding areas remained under the successors of Timur also. Therefore, Babar thought that he had the legal right over these territories, so he wanted to conquer these territories once again.
As a result He defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in the First Battle of Panipat in 1526.
It was The Rajput Confederacy, the strongest power of Nothern India under the capable ruler, The Rana Sanga of Mewar, who defeated Babar in the battle of Bayana.
However, the Timurid forces of Babar defeated the army of Rana Sanga in the decisive Battle of Khanwa (fought near Agra).
After this the centre of Mughal Power shifted to Agra from Kabul.
Later he died due to food poisoning in 1530 at Agra.
