Humayun (Nasir-ud-Din Muhammad) Born on 6 March 1508 (reigned 1530 - 1556), the second emperor of Mughal Empire. He succeeded his father to the throne of Delhi as the ruler of Mughal territories in Indian subcontinent. The preoccupation with wars, however, did not allow the new emperor to consolidate the gain he had made in India.Humayun was an inexperienced ruler when he came to power, at the age of 22. His half brother Kamran Mirza inherited Kabul and Kandahar, the Northernmost parts of hi father's empire.
The instability of the empire became evident under Humayun, who was forced to exile in Persia by rebels. He lost his empire early but regained it with the aid of the Safavid dynasty of Persia, with additional territory. Humayun lost Mughal territories to Sher Shah Suri (reigned 1540 - 1545), founder of Suri Empire (1540 - 1555), but regained them 15 years later with Safavid aid, defeating Adil Shah Suri.
He returned from Persia in 1555 and restored Mughal rule in some parts of India, later he died in an accident, fatally injured by falling down the staircase of his library.
